Just like the previous years, the Cupertino giant revealed very little information regarding the specs of their iPhone 7 lineup. Rather, not much details were known about the RAM, LTE modems, DACs, Batteries etc. iFixit however solves most of the mystery. The teardown reveals that unlike last year, Apple has used a stronger adhesive sealing strip; possibly to improve the waterproofing of the iPhone 7 Plus. Upfront, the iPhone sports a 5.5-inch Retina Display (1920x1080p) display, Home Button Integrated Touch ID and a front firing speaker cum earpiece. As expected, the iPhone 7 Plus opens like a book on removing the adhesive strip and the first thing that meets the eye is a significantly larger Taptic Engine located just above the false speaker grill located to the bottom right of the device. Yes, the iPhone 7 Plus teardown indeed reveals that the device has only one speaker at the bottom and not two. That said, the phone sports a front firing speaker that comes integrated onto the earpiece that’s located just above the display. The enlarged Taptic Engine on the other hand, uses haptic feedback to simulate the push of a button whenever you press on the round TouchID cum Home Button.

Another interesting change over the last generation is the inclusion of a larger 2900mAH battery over the 2750mAH one. Apple claims that this battery can deliver upto 21 hours of 3G talktime and approximately 15 hours of Wi-Fi internet usage. Coming to the logic board, the iPhone 7 Plus uses a Samsung supplied 3GB LPDDR4 RAM, Qualcomm MDM9645M Cat.12 LTE Modem, Toshiba made NAND Flash and Murata WiFi/Bluetooth module among others. That aside, we already know that the iPhone 7 Plus is powered by an Apple made A10 Fusion quad core SoC.

Coming to the cameras, the iPhone 7 Plus teardown reveals the use of a dual 12MP camera module wherein one of the modules i.e. the 12MP f/1.8 wide angle lens is carried forward from its smaller sibling, the iPhone 7. It comes equipped with OIS (Optical Image Stabilisation). The same can’t be said about the other camera module though. The 12MP f/2.8 telephoto shooter on the other hand while missing out on the niceties like OIS, comes equipped with 2X optical zoom. Previously we had reported, that the dual camera modules on the iPhone 7 Plus have allegedly been supplied by LG. Well, that’s all that’s known about the specs of the iPhone 7 Plus so far and we guess that almost everything you need to know too.
