The 4G Data Vouchers have had a decent run in the past. However, soon after the company announced that it will no longer pay the IUC (Interconnect Usage Charge) on behalf of its customers, and launched new plans with IUC Top-Ups, the same took over the old Data Vouchers, leaving them of very little purpose. To address this, the company has come up with revised tariffs for 4G Data Vouchers that now offer double the data (along with FUP minutes for calling). The revised vouchers update the Rs 11, Rs 21, Rs 51, and Rs 101 offerings, but have the same benefits for the Rs 251 voucher, which offers 2GB of data per day, but with no calling and SMS benefits. This means, it still requires users to get a separate IUC Top-Up voucher to make calls.
Coming back to the revised vouchers, here’s what each of these Top-Up vouchers offers —
Rs 11 – offers 800MB of data and 75 minutes of Jio to Non-Jio calling on the existing plan’s validity. Rs 21 – provides 2GB of data plus 200 minutes of Jio to Non-Jio calling on the existing plan’s validity. Rs 51 – gives 6GB of data along with 500 minutes of Jio to Non-Jio calling on the validity of the existing plan. Rs 101 – offers 12GB of data combined with 1000 minutes of Jio to Non-Jio calling on the existing plan’s validity.
Once the data limit is reached, the speed will be reduced down to 64Kbps. Taking into account the current scenario in the country (and the world) due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, a lot of the organizations have asked their employees to avoid coming to office and work from home instead. The announcement of revised tariffs with more data and calling benefits coming in at such times can prove to be helpful for those relying on mobile data for their work. It would be interesting to see if other telecom operators also come up with similar benefits for their customers.
